Lost connection? How to get back in

The connection is gone in the middle of a game? Don't panic: your place in the game is kept, and your drawing is saved.

Gone for a moment

If the connection drops, you see the notice "Lost connection to the server. Reconnecting...". ColorMari tries again by itself after a few seconds and brings you back into the game. As soon as you're back in, the notice disappears.

If that doesn't work, a message says the connection could not be established. Check your internet connection then, and reload the page.

Page reloaded or browser closed

Your browser remembers which game you're in. Open ColorMari again and go to Play: the button Resume last game is waiting there. It takes you right back to where the game is now.

And my drawing?

ColorMari saves every stroke while you draw. When you come back, your drawing is there again - at worst the last few seconds are missing.

But: the round doesn't wait for you. It ends when everyone else is done or the time runs out. If it ends while you're away, what was saved up to then is handed in.

New players

Someone who wasn't in the game yet can only join in the lobby. Once the game has started, the invitation link says "The game has already started." Someone who was already in, on the other hand, can come back at any time.

If the host is gone

• If the host just loses the connection, the game goes on and they can come back.
• If they leave the lobby on purpose, the lobby is closed for everyone.
• If they cancel the game, everyone sees "The game was aborted." - with a reason, if given.
• If nobody has been connected for half an hour, the game closes by itself.

If ColorMari restarts

That happens too, for instance with an update. Running games are backed up regularly and restored after the restart. You get back in automatically or by reloading the page - at most the last minute may be lost.
