As the game leader you decide in the lobby who may play and how the round goes. The default settings work right away; everything here is fine-tuning.
Who may enter the lobby
Under Access you set who can get into your game:
| Setting | Who can join |
|---|---|
| Public (in the lobby browser) | Everyone. Your game is listed on the home page under Games right now, and anyone can get in there with Join. |
| Everyone (with a link) | Anyone who has the link. |
| Whitelist | Only the names you enter - separated by commas or one per line. |
| Closed | Nobody any more. |
The home page lists all running games. A game that is not public only appears there as Invitation only, without host or code.
How the round goes
- Game mode: you click one of six cards: Echo, Storyteller, Telephone, Draw & Guess, Template or Custom - explained in How ColorMari works. On the right of the lobby, the Game mode tab shows step by step how the chosen mode goes; next to it is the Chat.
- Drawing rounds: how often everyone draws.
- Time per drawing: the time limit of every round. The lobby shows roughly how long the game will take with it.
- Player limit: how many people can play at most.
- Topic: a guideline for the prompts. Several lines make several prompt rounds.
- VIP mode: you mark individual players as VIPs. With
@!in a prompt, ColorMari then fills in one of them.
You cannot start a game alone - it takes at least a second person.
Your own rounds (Custom)
In Custom mode you set up every round yourself:
- Duplicate round: in a round's window (click the row), the button puts a copy of that round below it.
- Reorder: drag a round by the grip at the left of its row to its new place.
- My round plans: below the rounds you save the current rounds under a name with Save (the disk button). You choose a saved plan and bring it back with Use; the bin deletes the chosen plan. Plans stay in your account, for later lobbies too.
The player list
In the player list you can, for every person:
- toggle their VIP status,
- make them game master,
- kick them,
- ban them. A banned player cannot rejoin this game.
The list can be searched and sorted, and you can copy all names - handy for the whitelist of the next round.
While the game runs
During the game you still have three levers as the game leader:
- Extend time: add minutes to the running round. This cannot be done without limit.
- Force next round: when everyone is done, or somebody no longer responds.
- Cancel game.
At the end of a game, Next game opens a new lobby with the same settings, and you stay the host. Everyone else sees a notice for five seconds and is then taken along automatically - right away with Go now, or they stay behind with Stay here.
If you leave the lobby as the game leader, it is closed.
